The Captain of HMS Borage was Lieutenant Commander Aislabie Harrison RNR who sailed under the auspices of the Commodore Commanding Londonderry Escort Forces. The ship was accompanied by another Flower Class Corvette, HMS Pennywort.

Each had their hands full in coping with the difficulties experienced by the Empire Tarpon and also those of the US Tanker, SS Robert H Colley. The latter sank following an explosion and 11 crew were lost in two lifeboats but 33 were saved by HMS Borage. http://www.warsailors.com/convoys/hx209page2.html
